International Conference on "Organizations in the New Millennium Challenges & Opportunities" (ICON 2011), was held at AKGIM, Ghaziabad on 14th - 15th October 2011 in association with Indian Society for Training & Development (ISTD) Delhi Chapter. The Conference received 150 full papers, out of them 100 were selected for presentation and finally 63 were selected for publication purpose.

The inaugural ceremony of the Conference was addressed by Shri Girija Shankar (famous bollywood personality) as guest of Honor and by Mr. Mukul Sharma Global Delivery Head of TCS Operations as the Key note speaker.

Shri Girija Shankar highlighted the importance and relevance of Mahabharata in today's management world, where everyone is talking about strategic management to find out the one best way to achieve excellence. He stressed that epic Mahabharata is still relevant for today's managers to understand the importance of right decisions at the right time.

Mr. Mukul Sharma as the key note speaker addressed the conference on the people issues of the Organizations and further threw the light on right handling of people as resources in the Organizations to excel in this competitive and challenging environment.

The Inaugural Ceremony was also blessed by the presence of chairman AKGIM, Shri. Ashok Pal ji, who inaugurated the ceremony with other dignitaries present by lighting the lamps. In his address he congratulated the organizers for successfully organizing this event.

Dr. D.K. Benwat, Professor IIT Delhi and President Indian Society for Training and Development, New Delhi, while addressing the Conference in the inaugural ceremony stressed on demographic opportunity which India has, and discussed the ways to capture this dividend by the Modern Organizations.

Dr. Nanditesh Nilay Director Tranc , Secretary ISTD, also addressed the Conference and discussed the importance of knowledge management in each person's life in every organization..

63 Research Papers and Articles, selected by the International Review Committee of the Conference were published in the form of the Conference Proceedings. On the auspicious occasion of Inauguration the Conference Proceedings were released by the dignitaries present on the dais.

This two day International Conference proved a successful platform for serious discussions on the issues like Work engagement, Job satisfaction, Quality of Work Life, Work place Spirituality, Disconnected People in Organizations, Public Policy Management, Corporate Governance etc.

Valedictory session was addressed by Mr. Rabeen Singh General Manager, HR, Tatatele Ltd and Shri. S. Anandan Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India. Certificates distribution was done in the valedictory session, which was also attended by the Director of the Institute , Faculty Members and Organizers of the Conference Dr. Vidhi Agrawal and Dr. Suruchi Singh..
