ABSTRACT
Employee engagement is nourished by an employee’s inner drive to stay committed to ethical and meaningful work. This paper investigates the combined effects of Organizational culture, ethical climate and workplace spirituality for creating conducive work environment. The research provides an insight as to how common values, ethical leadership and a sense of belonging in the workplace influence spiritual health of employees. The research involves systematic review that provides a synthesis of extant literature. According to the findings, employee engagement significantly improves when employees believe that their own beliefs and the values of the organisation are aligned. Employee satisfaction and commitment improve when there is a strong emotional and cognitive connect with the job. Further, the study finds limitations in the existing research, such as the limited cross-industry comparisons and the requirement for longitudinal studies to evaluate the long- term effects of workplace spirituality efforts. This study contributes to theory and practice by highlighting the benefit of spirituality at the workplace on enhancing all-round well-being at both individual and Organizational levels, which is possible through developing loyalty, ethical engagement, and productivity. Those organizations that wish to embrace spiritual dimensions in their culture can be supported with the practical insight of ethics, inclusiveness and value-based leadership. This paper can have significant implications for organizations endeavouring to create a resilient based workforce who is able to respond positively towards the call of “spiritually supportive” workplace. The results highlight spirituality at work as one among the key components of balance, ethics and health in organizations.
