Factors Affecting Financial Literacy Among Women: An Exploratory Study

ABSTRACT
One of the key challenges for India is women’s empowerment. It can only be accomplished when women gets educated and financially independent. In order to make a woman financial independent, financial literacy plays a great role. But the obstacle being faced is that, women have lack of financial knowledge. A basic level of understanding related to financial matters is must for every woman in order to be able to make her own decisions and contribute to the overall well-being and prosperity of her family. A woman, who is financially independent, is a tremendous catalyst for economic development as she has huge capacity to assist in economic growth. The purpose of the present study is to explore the various factors that contribute towards the financial literacy among the women of Punjab. The results of the study will be of great use for the policy makers and government in order to frame policies and strategies that would focus on improving financial literacy among women.
